Ed Tamplin - Astrology of Belief

We were pleased to welcome long time SARS speaker Ed Tamplin as our first presenter of 2015. His talk was on the Astrology of Belief. Ed always draws a capacity crowd with his credentials as a mundane astrologer recognised on both the national and international scene. He is a full time professional consultant, renowned for his research work and media presence. Ed’s interest in astrology began as a ten-year-old reading an astrology book written by Australian astrologer June Marsden, a former President of the Astrology Research Association of Australia.
The book was titled ‘Follow Your Stars To Success’ and June had a successful radio show on 2GB after spending many years in the USA and Canada as a leading astrologer. As fate would have it Ed co-hosted a two-hour astrological radio program on 2GB that rated number one in Sydney, garnering an extraordinary 23% of the available listening audience over a ten year period. But many of you may know Ed through his long running ‘Eye In The Sky’ column for the FAA quarterly journal, or his regular SARS presentations, which now stretch back twenty-years.
In his blurb Ed wrote: “What we ‘believe’ in determines who we are and either expands or limits our future. In extreme cases it can spell the difference between life or death. But how do we determine belief astrologically - both for the individual and the national narrative?” The presentation then took us on an astro-journey that examined special events and moments in time, pivotal people who changed the world and the planetary cycles that coincided. The lecture additionally explored the question of belief changing matter and an individual’s physical being.
Ed began by showing how a specific moment in time presents a unique planetary signature, which can accurately determine the mood of the moment. He used an example from Australian history during World War One. Ed then paralleled a similar astrological chart, and similar event, taking us way back to the First Crusade. He went on to display how the same planets were prominent with the 911 attacks.
Ed showed how mass ‘belief’ including religious and political movements revealed fascinating synchronicities between the planetary cycles, aspects and the historical events outlined. He also looked at the charts of individuals such as cult leaders whose natal charts mirrored the collective movements. Included were the natal charts of philosophers such as Renee Descartes, Freidrich Nietzche and Karl Marx, whose thoughts ushered in the new movements of the Enlightenment and Communism. Examined in detail was the natal chart of the saint and stigmatic, Padre Pio, unveiling how his natal chart reflected his beliefs, and its major transits outlined his development. Other historical figures Ed examined included Julius Caesar and the Roman Triumvirates and the astrological correspondents of the birth of Christianity, Islam and Judaism. More modern trends included examining the astrological cycle behind the phenomena of the X Files, Harry Potter and the dominating influence of the Internet. Of particular interest was the unique harmonic resonance of the Uranus Neptune cycle in religion and mythology.
Ed’s lecture concluded with a look at present day developments and in particular the relevance of Jupiter in Leo, and its connection to oil and military incursions in the Middle East. This was an example of how sidereal cycles will help to time events of a recurring nature and the reasons underlying. He also used another example of the global belief with the George W Bush Axis Of Evil speech, or the Ronald Reagan Evil Empire one. All this gave a fascinating insight into how history repeats. Ed mentioned that as these planets now return we have another Axis of Evil style speech coming up in early March 2015, and noted that it coincided with Israeli PM Bin Netanyahu’s address to the US Congress.
