Witnessing the Inner Astronomy

A Talk by Sudhir

image002.jpg

Thousands of years ago the great mystic Patanjali, in his Yoga Sutra’s, invited his disciples to meditate on the Sun to gain knowledge of the solar system, to meditate on the Moon, to gain knowledge of the arrangement of the stars – and to meditate on the Pole Star to gain knowledge of the movement of the stars.

In this talk Sudhir will explore the meaning and implications of these invitations. In particular he will invite listeners to get curious about the symbol of the Pole Star and see where it might fit in a psychological and spiritual reading of a person’s chart. We will have a go at not just thinking about these things but experiencing what they might mean.

Sudhir's Bio

Sudhir trained in experiential astrology in the USA in 1985. Experiential astrology is a creative counselling tool that combines astrology with gestalt, psychodrama and more. This approach offers people a direct, astrologically-focused experience of self-awareness. He was one of the very first people to bring this modality to Australia. He has offered individual, couples and group astrology sessions and readings in Australia, New Zealand and in India for over thirty years. He has also helped train other experiential astrologers along the way.

Sudhir’s astrology columns have been published in newspapers, magazines and on-line for 25 years. His written work is syndicated nationally and internationally by Auspac Media. He has worked on television, been featured various magazines, taught experiential astrology in jails, guest lectured at a university and published two books.

Sudhir has a counselling degree from the Jansen Newman Institute in Sydney. As well as being an astrologer, heworks as a support worker with people with acute and persistent mental health issues in Kings Cross/Woolloomooloo. He has recently completed a Certificate in Traumatic Stress Studies through the Trauma Centre at the Justice Research Institute in Boston USA.

THANK YOUR LUCKY STARS

shutterstock_575897167.jpg

So what is luck?  Every person you ask this question will have a different answer.  Where does luck come from, when does it come and often a cause of great fear for some, when and where does it go?  The very foundation of Astrology was based upon the idea of someone wanting to know if they were going to be lucky.  Will I win the war?  Will my child live long enough to make it to the throne?  Will I lose my fortune or will I find the treasure?  All very important matters back in the day when it was so important to know where “X” marked the spot.

Today the most often asked questions when seeing clients, be it a flippant one or not, is “Will I win the lottery”, “Will I get the job” or “When or will I ever find love”.  I am asked these three questions over and over again.

People like Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg to name a few are great examples to see these principals in action but we too can find luck in our charts if we just know where to look.

Join Christina Stargazer as she looks at all things lucky from an Astrological perspective.  Is “Lady Luck” on your side?  When will your luck turn?  Will you experience a reverse in your fortune or are you already a “Lucky Duck” according to your friends & colleagues?  As Uranus moves into tropical Taurus what impact will this have on you and your chart!

Christina Stargazer is a consultant, researcher and writer who practices Astrology and Numerology in NSW, Australia.  Christine has also studied with Doreen Virtue to become an advanced Angel Intuitive.  Christine teaches Astrology to a professional level.  Christine facilitates workshops and presents to a variety of community and social groups.  Christine has spoken at Federation of Australian Astrologers Conferences, Breaking Down the Borders Online Conference and co-coordinates the South Coast Astrology Group.  She specialises in Horary Astrology (The Art of Asking a Question) and facilitate Circle Work.

Discover how one of the oldest pagan practises, Witchcraft utilises Astrology to focus and magnify the monthly casting cycle.

Perhaps not the traditional way Astrology is used, you’ll learn how a the cycles of light and dark, heat and cold, are combined with a dash of lunar magic.

Stacey Demarco, The Modern Witch, is a best selling author, teacher and expert of Mythos. She is the author of the best selling annual "Lunar & Seasonal Diary" for both the southern and northern hemispheres.www.themodernwitch.com

More on Stacey

Her passion is to make practical magic accessible to everyone and to reconnect people with the power of nature. Her down-to-earth yet scholastic spiritual style and her skill at weaving ancient techniques to solve modern problems, make her popular amongst clients and a regular contributor upon all things spiritual across television, radio and other media.

Stacey Demarco was born by the beach and counts her first friends as dogs, cats and those crazy little lizards that run around your back garden. Her mother once described her as a child as “forever asking questions unless she was in nature and then she was becalmed, for a time. Then, the questions start over. Sigh”.A former successful corporate animal, she has worked for multinational companies in senior marketing and PR roles until she decided to transition into her purpose- that of being a “catalyst for change”.

Once described by the Australian mainstream financial press as the ‘Thinking Woman’s Witch,’ she is the author of three best selling books on earth-based spirituality including the classic “Witch in the Boardroom” in its third edition. Her beautiful annual Lunar & Seasonal Diary (for both Southern and Northern Hemispheres) are eagerly awaited each year. Stacey’s books with Jade-Sky, “The No Excuses Guide to Soul Mates” and “The No Excuses Guide to Uncovering your Purpose” are Australian top sellers and now released internationally. She released the world’s first lunar and spellcraft app -expected for someone who is ‘the modern witch!” 2013 Stacey released “Ocean Guardians Diary” with the Introduction by Capt Paul Watson founder of Sea Shepherds.

A long time lover and scholar of the mythos of the feminine and masculine divine, her first set of Oracle cards “Gods & Titans”, illustrated by award-winning artist Jimmy Manton and her second set, “Goddesses & Sirens”  Stacey’s other decks include “ Earth Power Oracle , Halloween,Gospel of Aradia and Viking.

She has appeared on countless television and radio programmes and in many mainstream magazines. She was the Metaphysicist on the hit TV series, ‘The One”. She has a number of very popular and somewhat controversial social media pages including Facebook and her “Natureluster” blog. Her grassroots activist group ‘The 5000’ organizes fundraisers for various animal and environmental causes and beach cleanups amongst other activities. She lectures, holds workshops and retreats and consults within Australia and around the world. She is a proud pagan, active in the community, and passionate about bringing the magic of nature to everyone, especially those who sit in offices all day.

Stacey still lives by the sea (and still asks loads of questions) but now on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, with her husband (a doctor) and animal companions. She is an avid adventure traveller, environmental activist, trekker, horsewoman, loves messing around with photography and astronomy and is a very average skier and surfer; the latter which she has now fully accepted that there will be no great improvement. Ever.

Integrating Technique & Intuition

piercing_veil_051.png

Astrological symbolism veils a deeper reality, one that is ever shrouded in mystery.  In the words of Albert Einstein “The most beautiful thing we can experience isthe mystery.  It is the source of all true art and science….”

Practices old and new, reflected through the multitude of astrological systems and styles, plus the application of craft, helps us to navigate and approach this mystery. But it is the fine blade of intuition which pierces the veil.

In this presentation Bob will explore the important yet elusive nature of intuition, paralleling key spiritual teachings with samplings of the latest neuroscientific research, to illustrate how (and why) technique, skill and process, harnessed to the imaginal faculties, helps to open the door to insights and new understanding.

Bob began studying Astrology in the late 1980’s… and has never stopped! His interests are many; personal, relational, global, archetypal. In particular he is drawn to the possibilities inherent in a fusion of traditional and esoteric astrology teachings.

For the past 25 years Bob has undertaken chart readings and compiled astrological reports, including for children, focused on a free will approach where the individual’s choice is ever the key 'influence'.  He has presented lectures and workshops on astrological themes (“The Rise of the Feminine”, “Mayans, Mayhem and Maya”, “Prometheus Then and Now” and “The Rulers of the Soul”), written a blog – “Across the Universe” and led regular Astrology Classes at The Leonis School, Belrose (www.leonis.org). He is currently an AANSW member.

Bob is also a practicing Meditation and Movements Teacher and a part time author, currently part way through a book on the evolution of consciousness titled “I Am – The Enigma of Being Human”.

The Power of Her Majesty: Queen Victoria’s Reign

By Anne Robertson

All things to do with Queen Victoria and her reign are very much the zeitgeist inspiring numerous biographies, movies and telemovies about her life and work.

In this presentation Anne will explore the mystique of this powerful woman who ascended the throne as a mere teenager of 18 years and became the most powerful woman in the world whose reign spanned 64 years, the duration of which was only recently eclipsed by that of Queen Elizabeth II.

She gave birth to nine children and survived eight assassination attempts over the course her lifetime. She was a symbol of steadfastness and security – Queen of a quarter of the world’s population at the height of the British Empire’s reach. Anne will examine the natal chart of Queen Victoria and charts of those who were major players during her reign including her husband, the Prince Consort Albert, some of her Prime Ministers and members of her household and other significant family members.

Anne Robertson was given her first book on Greek mythology for her seventh birthday by her schoolteacher parents sparking a lifelong fascination with the imaginal realm. Anne and her sister, Sue, were inspired to design a set of astrology greeting cards drawing on the different feminine archetypes after attending a two year mythology series run by the C.G. Jung Society of Sydney. Anne is an experienced astrologer, counsellor, healer, teacher, writer and inspirational speaker. She has been involved in the areas of astrology, transpersonal psychotherapy and the healing arts for over three decades.

An Introduction To Horary Astrology

An Introduction To Horary Astrology

By Rozlyn Noble

Rozlyn-Noble-e1485205485897.jpg

Horary astrology is an ancient branch of astrology used for finding specific answers to specific questions. The principle is that at the moment a question is clarified in the mind – the birth time of the question – the answer is also there and the interpretation of this chart is done based on that information.

In this presentation, the basic building blocks and rules will be outlined to assist the astrologer to understand how to accurately and confidently read a horary chart. When interpreting a natal chart, the astrologer is usually able to converse with the owner of a chart in order to verify and confirm the patterns of behaviour revealed.

However with the horary chart, every clue must be analysed to come to a conclusive answer. Therefore a thorough understanding of the Houses, planets (and what they signify), signs and their relationships with each other must be used to ‘crack the code’ and understand the message of the stars.

Rozlyn Noble began her astrology studies 30 years ago with the Rosicrucian Fellowship based in the USA. Astrology has been a lifelong interest culminating in 2016 with achieving The Diploma of Astrology from the FAA, and also the certificate in Horary from the STA. She is a current member of the AANSW. Rozlyn specialises in the ancient technique of Horary. She utilises both traditional and modern astrology methods to bring rich perspective to the questions clients bring.

ozlyn is also a co-director and owner of Noble Performance Solutions – a business/leadership consulting organisation and has applied Horary Astrology with international executives during times of transition/change. Originally from New Zealand, Rozlyn has lived in Australia for nearly 20 years. Rozlyn is a keen adventurer, participating in expeditions climbing, hiking, rafting and skiing around the globe.

The Chart behind the Chart - exploring the Lunar Nodes

By Marc Laurenson

The Nodes of the Moon are profound threads in the tapestry of life. Pinpointing issues, agendas and habits woven deeply within our subconscious, they are an intriguing story within themselves. Often coined ‘the Chart behind the Chart,’ the Moons Nodes explore the depths of emotional awareness from realms far beyond the physical. In this talk we will explore techniques with delineating the Nodal story to bring these elusive points to life.

Marc Laurenson bio

After years of self-study, influenced strongly by Evolutionary techniques he began reading charts at his Saturn Return. This gradually built into his own successful consulting business Marc Laurenson Astrology. Sydney Astrology School is now celebrating its 10th anniversary with the School going Online this year teaching students from around the Globe.

Juno: Queen of Heaven; Mother of Mars; Soul Generator

By Robyn Lee

Juno’s multiple ‘names’, attributes and mythology point to her being a glorious primary ‘Goddess/deity’ in the cultural business of woman-hood.

Juno in a chart indicates where the generative, protective guardian Genii, or soul/spirit of ones ‘being’ resides and seeks union, foremost within ourselves and then with others.

In this talk we will explore some of Juno’s many themes as well as looking at some notable charts – e.g. Elizabeth Taylor – ‘Queen of the Hollywood’ and her many ‘husbands’.

Robyn Lee (ex Reg. Nurse) has been in private practice as a counselling Astrologer since 1988 and is a practitioner and foundation member of the Association of Professional Astrologers (APA).  Since moving to Sydney in 2012 she has given talks to SARS and AANSW.   In Perth she taught, lectured and facilitated workshops in astrology and the Asteroid Goddesses.   She has an ongoing interest in Jungian psychology, mythology, symbolism and eco-spirituality. Robyn is currently Secretary of SARS (Sydney Astrological Research Society) and is an AANSW member.

Robyn grew up in country south island of New Zealand where the seasonal cycles were clearly demarcated and the beautiful and fascinating starry night sky was crystal clear.

Magic & Meaning in the Fixed Stars

By Roderick Kidston

Long ago, William Lilly stated that ‘Fixed stars give great gifts, and elevate even from poverty to an extreme height of fortune; the seven planets do not so.’ This is perhaps the most useful, succinct statement any astrologer has made about how the stars provide an additional power surge or turbo-charging which is not found solely with the various planetary symbols.

So this evening we go back to astrological basics – because the stars are truly the most basic part of our arcane art – and look anew at the stars, at their varied helps and occasional hindrances. We’ll look at some of the well-known: either well regarded or well and truly feared, and consider whether and how it is time to revision the old fears. We’ll also look at stars which nobody has investigated before, finding new meanings in strange places. There is such a depth of magic and meaning in the stars!

Roderick Kidston (Canberra Astrologer) was an early fan of adding asteroids to the astrological repertoire, and now regards a select group as essential for horoscope delineation. He has had a long interest in harmonics as well as a more integral approach to astrology linked to depth and transpersonal psychology, metaphysics and the new physics. In recent years he has returned to older work he did on the fixed stars, which is coming together in a forthcoming book The Magic of the Stars. Roderick has published on astrology in several places, taught it, given talks and workshops in several cities, and he has spoken at several conferences since 2003. Roderick is the author of an asteroid report writer for Cosmic Patterns Software, producers of Kepler and Sirius software, called "The Iris Asteroids Report." He writes an astrological blog at yinyangastrologer.com.

In this talk and discussion Yatin will be looking at how the Moon’s Nodes (Rahu and Ketu) are viewed from the Vedic perspective viz a vis Western Astrology.     He will cover the mythology and symbolism and also the esoteric viewpoint of the Nodal axis through the Natal houses and by transit.   He will also touch upon desires and karmas locked within 6th house.

Yatin Kotwal is a committee member of SARSand has been studying Vedic astrology for the past 20 years.   He is a certified by Saptarishi Astrology Research Group in Bhrigu and Nakshatra Constellation system of prognostication and has been doing readings as a hobby.    He has a keen interest in, Western psychodynamic astrology, Numerology and works in IT.

Coming Full Circle

By Christine Thomas

So what is “Circle Work” or “Experiential Astrology” and how is it different from intellectualising over your natal chart? The main difference is you are taken out of your head and get a chance to jump into your body. Both are important however most often we have not experienced the latter. Does your head rule your heart or your heart rule your head, or both? Astrology teaches that life is cyclic. We learn about the future by studying and exploring the past, nothing new there. Neptune has well and truly ingressed into Pisces, we might imagine this now to be the case. What was happening the last time Neptune moved into the sign of the fishes? We will take a “look” experientially! Come join Christina, jump onto the circle, and take an experiential Astrological ride of your life (participation is encouraged but not compulsory). Christina will facilitate and walk you through the charts of a few most memorable moments in time. Will you be able to pick the date? Time permitting and willingness to participate may include some personal work so make sure you bring your natal chart along on the day.

Christine Thomas is a consultant, teacher, researcher and writer who practices Astrology and Numerology in the Illawarra, South Coast & Southern Highlands of New South Wales. Christine is on the Committee of the Astrological Association of New South Wales. Uranus, Neptune…… and the birth of the Internet

1989 was a defining year in world affairs; the year apartheid in South Africa began to be dismantled, the year that students occupied Tiananmen Square in Beijing, and the year that the Berlin Wall came down, marking the end of Communist rule in Europe.

It was also the year that the World Wide Web, or global internet was born, paving the way for the ‘Age of Technology’ and a wave of change that defines so much of modern life.

As would be expected 1989 was a pivotal year astrologically, with Uranus and Neptune being joined by Saturn in a triple conjunction in Capricorn.

In this presentation the relationship between the 20th century’s second and final outer planet conjunction (there are none in the 21st century), and the technological revolution, will be explored, against the historical/cultural backdrop of the Uranus /Neptune cycle and its energetic workings.

Mysteries of the Dark Feminine

In this presentation Anne will be exploring the original power of the feminine and how it has been distorted over the ages, which has impacted on our intimate relationships.

She will be looking at the Dark feminine entities such as Lilith, Medusa and Hekate to see how they manifest in our chart and how, as both men and women, we can best channel these energies constructively.

Anne will also be examining the charts of some well-known people who best illustrate these powerful dark feminine energies. Anne will also perform a couple of her poems she has dedicated to the Goddess.

Anne was given her first book on Greek mythology for her seventh birthday by her schoolteacher parents sparking a lifelong fascination with the imaginal realm. She has been involved in the areas of astrology, transpersonal psychotherapy and the healing arts for over two decades.

Anne is a member of AANSW and a committee member of SARS and writes the reviews of talks given by guest speakers for Sydney Astrology website and Facebook. She has made regular appearances on radio and has appeared on television. Asteroid Goddess Ceres ~ in the 12 Zodiac Fields“

The mythology around Ceres is beautifully and mysteriously complex, yet in these contemporary times her story is visible everywhere, continuously renewing our understanding of the world we live in. From the aptly named NASA Dawn Mission currently circling the Asteroid/Dwarf Planet Ceres, to the deeply archetypal journey of ‘life, death and rebirth’, her ‘creative seeds’ continue to be revived and nurtured.

Through looking at the charts of some amazing and ‘ordinary’ people’s lives we will see how these seeds have flourished and grown. By exploring Ceres in the 12 ‘fields’ of the Zodiac you will be able to reflect on your own story of this Goddess.

Gaze Into The Future - Looking at the Chinese Year of the Fire Monkey and the World Year '9'

Greg will open the year with SARS with his insights, information and forecasts for the New Year. Given the mutability of the major aspects this year the image of the ‘Fire Monkey’ certainly conjures up some mischief and unpredictability in what essentially is a ‘completion’ number 9 year.

Gregory Clare has lectured internationally (UAC) and nationally on Hellenistic and Classical Astrology. He is a writer, researcher and teacher - conducting master classes on Hellenistic Astrology. He is a Speaker at the 2016 FAA Conference being held in Sydney. Former President of the Astrology Association of NSW Inc. (AANSW - 2007 -14) and the Sydney Astrological Research Society Inc. (SARS - 2006-14). He is also a former NSW- FAA National representative.

The Planets in Essence: Understanding how the planets work and what part of the psyche they motivate.

Dianne Wise-Carroll

In Astrology today, with computers and technical ‘know how’, it is possible for the first time in human history ‘everyday’ people can get to understand real Astrology.

For several years now I've been working on ways to simplify the understanding of what your astrological chart represents.   This enables people to look at their own natal chart and gain self-understanding.    We may not all have a life-long interest in Astrology, but we all have a life-long interest in our particular lives.   Once a person knows their chart it's easy in today's world with the aid of a computer to get the daily transits and place them around the chart.

My talk is designed for you to look at quick and easy ways to grasp and absorb the effects of the planets and through the signs and houses.

Dianne Wise-Carroll had her first taste of astrology in 1970 when she learnt and helped a work colleague understand a ‘DIY Astrology kit’ she had ordered from over-seas.   Since then Dianne’s interest in Astrology has been life-long. Dianne believes that if people understand their basic chart this opens real astrology to more people and in turn can encourage people to see Astrologers for further ‘expert’ understanding.   Dianne incorporates her design skills in her Astrology presentations.

Magickal Language and Astrological Technique

Del Strachen

Del will introduce his method and system of Horary, using Astrology, Tarot and Number.

He will describe his system and its correspondences.   Then he will delineate a chart and present his explanations.   The third section involves doing a live interactive delineation from questions and current events with the audience.

“For those of you who have read in the traditional way and are seeking a new approach, I am now presenting my personal system in a practical, engaging talk, which I hope you will not only enjoy but perhaps integrate into your own readings.”

Del Strachen, in 1999, began his Astrology apprenticeship under Jonathon Robinson, who studied with the iconic Lionel E.I. Day.   Since his intensive training he has delivered thousands of astrological readings, which have led him to develop his own innovative Magickal Language and Astrological Method.    Del is a regular ‘reader’ at the Mind, Body and Spirit Expos in Sydney.
